Steps for Club Membership
- When you bring a
guest, please check in with the Club Secretary (Justin Richie). The
Secretary will note your guest and give you the opportunity to introduce
them at the beginning of the meeting. REMINDER: Please have them stand with
you so everyone in the room can easily see this individual.
- If you are interested
in perhaps proposing this individual and this person shows an interest in
possibly joining, they should visit the Club at least three times,
preferably-four. Make sure you introduce them to those at your table and
others before and after the meeting. REMINDER: Please let the chairman of
the Membership Committee know you are recruiting this individual. Mike
Chaloult, Jr. chairs this committee for 2010 -2011.
- After these visits,
if you are still interested in proposing this individual for membership,
talk with the Club Secretary, Justin Richie, and pick up a Membership
application.
- You, the Proposer,
will fill out this information and return it to Justin Richie. The
Secretary then forwards this data to the Classification Committee and then
notifies the President and the Chairman of the Recruitment Committee. If
there is an open slot, depending on this person’s Classification,
the committee can then complete the card. The purpose for the
Classification is to prevent too many individuals, in the same profession
from creating a lopsided membership.
- The Classification
Card and Application will be returned to the Secretary and subsequently
forwarded to the President.
- The President will
then convene the Board of Directors and officers to review the name of the
prospective member. If the Board approves, the data is returned to the
Secretary of the Club.
- The Secretary will
immediately notify the Proposer of the individual’s preliminary acceptance;
the Proposer must then have the Membership Application signed by the
prospective member and return it to the Secretary.
- The name of the
proposed individual will then be “placed on the Table” for the whole
membership to review. The name will remain “on the table” for two weeks to
allow adequate time for all Club members to consider the proposed
individual.
- Any Club member who
objects to the admission of the proposed new member must state
their objections in writing; such objections must be forwarded
to the President or the Secretary.
- If there are no
written objections, the President will notify the Proposer that this
individual has been formally approved and should be invited to the next
meeting.
- If there ARE
written objections, the President and Board will reconsider the nomination.
